1.being able to create and customize your own character
2.Involve elves, dwarfs, mages, etc.
3. Free and no monthly fees
4. Can be online or offline
5. Is not like Perfect World, that game is silly, repetitive and pointless.
6. Preferably not Anime in style or look (like Final Fantasy), but that's of least concern.
I have searched all over even for old genesis/snes roms but to no avail.

You mention Neverwinter Nights, do you already have it? Then you can download free player-made modules from NWVault. Check the ratings to find the good ones, I've provided links to a few that I like.
