Poll: Readers' Immediate Attraction?

Which elements do you prefer, or tend to be attracted to when it comes to picking out a book?

Name all that apply and take time before answering. Some answers have subcategories that come with choices that you can answer.



A) The book's cover.

i) A calm cover, consisting of soft, cold colors.

ii) A cover with varying adventurous elements. Ex. A group of characters, soldiers and weapons a lone soldier, etc. etc. etc.

iii) Character Portrait- the main character pictured on the front.

iv) A landscape

v) Single Controlling Image- Like the dragon on the Inheritance Series' novels.



B) The Book's Reviews: How critics review the book.



C) The Description: The inside cover, or back, that introduces the reader to what the story is about.

it doesn't really matter that much to me-if they say it's really bad then i probably wouldn't buy it and i normal don't base which books i buy on how the critics view it.

i always have to read the description before buying a book and i usually pick a book if i want to read more after the description

i dont usually read the book until i get home because i base my decisions on the description most of the time

i will usually look at the other books of an author that i like to see if they look good to read

I don't know what all those codes you have up there are for, I just choose a book by its author and sometimes the actual topic.
