Sound lag causes game lag?

Hello, my new HP dv7 is having problems. Sometimes during gameplay and especially cutscenes the characters mouths will be moving but no sound will come out, then after awhile all the dialogue will come out at once or sometimes not come out at all!

This is causing issues in most of the games I play, including Assassin's Creed 2, Modern Warfare 2, and even Age of Empires 3 (my hardware is more than capable of handling them, I even tested on system requirement lab). Normally sounds cutting isn't an issue, but in some games it causes 2-4 second pauses, in dialogue heavy regions this occurs every few minutes. It makes some games virtually unplayable.

However a few games suffer from the dialogue issue but runs ok, experiencing infrequent lags. Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2 suffers from sound lags but runs almost-normal.

I think the sound issue is really whats lagging the gameplay. Even older games like AOE3 lags, I bought this laptop mere months ago.

If anyone else is having issues like this and can help, anything is appreciated!

You should post your system specs, including sound card. You said you ran System Requirements Lab but that tool is extremely inaccurate and should not be trusted.
